About Kenias Shonhai
Kenias Shonhai is the founder and Managing Partner of Shonhai Law Chambers. He holds an LLB Honours Degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He is also a holder of a Masters of Commerce in Strategic Management from Great Zimbabwe University. In February 2015 he was registered by the High Court of Zimbabwe as a legal practitioner, conveyancer, and notary public in terms of the Legal Practitioners Act. He has vast experience in the practice of law both in court and out of court. From 2015 to date he has practiced with different organisations at different levels.
Of the eight years of law practice, five years were with the human rights sector (Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, Zimbabwe Human Rights Association) where he has been interacting with both the formal and informal justice delivery mechanisms and systems. He has been involved in litigation on behalf of human rights victims both at the local and international levels with the courts, the African Human Rights systems, and the United Nations human rights systems. Kenias has been an avid human rights defender. He worked with different Human rights bodies both locally and internationally lobbying and advocating for the advancement of human rights bodies both locally and internationally lobbying and advocating for the advancement of human rights. He has also researched many human rights thematic areas but notably on the Rights of Prisoners.
Kenias has more than three years of practising law in private practice. He has been purely engaged informal justice delivery system. Litigation was their major activity, out of court and alternative dispute resolution was also practised. He worked with Chidawanyika, Chitere and Partners, Nyabawa Legal Practice as well as Macheyo Law Chambers as a professional assistant until the time he founded his practice.

Standa Sani is a Zimbabwean legal practitioner, conveyancer, and notary public, known for his expertise in advising individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and corporate clients on a wide range of legal, property, and commercial matters. His practice primarily focuses on conveyancing and property law, estates and succession, commercial transactions, and public and administrative law. Standa’s multidisciplinary academic and professional background enhances his ability to engage with legal issues through both technical precision and broader contextual understanding. His training encompasses law, business, governance, human rights, and innovation, reflecting a comprehensive outlook on Africa’s evolving legal and economic integration. He holds an impressive array of qualifications, including a Bachelor of Procedural Law (BLP) and a Bachelor of Substantive Law (BLS) from the University of Zimbabwe, a Certificate in Intellectual Property from WIPO, a Master of Human Rights, Peace and Development from Africa University, a Master of Technology in Strategy and Innovation from the Harare Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Business Management from Midlands State University. This diverse educational background allows him to advise clients not only on legal requirements but also on optimal transaction structuring and effective risk management in increasingly interconnected markets.
As a published legal scholar, Standa specializes in land law, property, and succession. His notable works include “The Evolution of Intestate Succession in Zimbabwe” and “Land, Law & Legacy: Zimbabwe’s Quest for Justice and Reparations,” among others including an Interrogation of Zimbabwe’s Constitutional Obligation to Compensate Former White Commercial Farmers Under the Second Republic. Regionally, he published a paper on the need for continental integration against neo-colonialism and capitalism. His research often blends doctrinal legal analysis with policy perspectives, addressing governance, sustainable development, and institutional reform within a post-colonial framework.
Characterized by careful doctrinal reasoning, rigorous use of precedent, and sensitivity to the social impacts of legal outcomes, Standa is dedicated to wielding law as a tool for accountability and restorative justice while remaining grounded in the realities of African governance and development.
